Three questions on how to choose a lingerie design
When you are faced with being able to design anything, how do you decide?
I heard a quote the other day which said “ Deciding the wrong decision is better than not deciding at all” which I suppose is a bit deep when it comes to deciding on lingerie design, however if you are stood trying to decide I would say action equals clarity (coming out with all the classics today!), so make that decision and if you are really truely stuck ask youself the following:
What colours are you drawn to? Brights? Clashing? Neutrals? Prints? What I finds tends to work is either one colour, one main colour with one accent colour or throwing every colour at your design thereby for some reason three colours don’t look as good as more colours!
What is your USP? This is the question people hate when I ask them, you need to be able to explain it like explaining to a five year old, no spiel!
Who is your customer? If those questionnaires help that makes you draft out an imaginary customer use them, you may be thinking ‘I don’t know yet’ then ask yourself who is your lingerie designs not for?
Just by drafting out these three answers will give you insight. You know when you get dressed int the morning (stick with me) and you have a wardrobe full of clothes and you don’t know what to pick, designing in is a bit like that, you narrow your choices to make (getting dressed) designing easier.
If you still don’t how to narrow your designs down, Part one of ‘How to design and refine your first lingerie collection’ is all about designs and ideas and it will take you through each step to get you a strong looking brand.
