Wire it matters

Most popular wire that I use throughout designing from the smaller sizes to the bigger sizes, is always the same. For, I’d say 85% of my designs I always start with the MS20 wire*

*insert firework noises

The MS20 is a great all rounder, for T-shirt bras, everyday bras and three-piece cup bras for bigger cups, the MS20 gives a great shape for your bras.

As you design around the sire first in designing and it’s not an afterthought (where you just stick a wire in at the end and hope for the best), knowing which wire to pick can be a daunting place to start.

The MS20 has medium height at the side and front, I usually get my underwire from Prym Intimates and they sell into stores so you can just buy a pair and not commit to the minimums that comes with buying directly from them.

When you buy the real MS20 it will have all the information printed on the wire, you can buy MS20 wire shaped wires from places that don’t have the information printed on and these are replicas of the underwire, although the quality will different and the plastic coating on the ends of the wires may not be the same standard.

The wire grades by 2.1cm (which means the wire increases/decreases in each size by 21mm).

If you are designing a plunge or push-up bra then the MS09 wire is a good wire to start with.
