Get yourself organised with this free Timeline for manufacturing your lingerie

So you have an idea for your lingerie designs, but you have no idea what you need or the order to do it in. When I worked for big companies I would often have 4-6 different collections going through at once, and each of those would have two-to-four pieces, and then I would be also developing new collections for the next season; so when that Monday morning meeting came around and the questions “where are you on all the collections? Are they coming in on time?’ you needed to know exactly where each piece was on the timeline.

Had the fabrics been chosen? Which piece had been graded? What was the factory waiting for from me? What did I need to chase from the factory?

If you have read previous blogs, or follow me on instagram then you will know I love an Excel spread sheet, all the technical work I do is done on Excel. All the spec sheets I write are on Excel, so when I was sat in that meeting, guess what I had in front of me - yup my spread sheet.

I would be able to tell you, exactly the path of each piece, and yes sometimes to fill it all in took time, but I knew future me, would spend less time trying to work everything out.

The Excel sheet is not rocket science it’s literally a list of all the things that you need to do to go from idea to final product, if you are planning to do everything yourself then you can still use this spreadsheet so you know what you need to do next.

I use the sheet in two ways, I put the date that it’s been completed and then if I have been given any dates from the factory I put that in so I can ensure everything comes in on time, and if I’m not working with a factory, I work out when I want to launch the product and work backwards and put in the dates of what I want to complete and when.

Doing this allows you to see if the date you have chosen is actually feasible, it shows you exactly how much you should be doing and when.

I hope this sheet helps you, it’s totally free with spaces for to add all your designs that will come to life.

Good luck with everything.
