The right size hook and eye
Traditionally the hooks and eyes are fitted at the centre back of the bra, and can come in an assortment of widths, and length, i.e. 2 eyes by 2 eyes.
The longest part is called the hook, the shortest part the eyes. Usually wider hook and eyes are used by larger back and cup size bras. This means that the width of the wing can be kept wide to give the support across the under-band for the weight of the breast in the bra cups.
For D/DD cups above, 38mm is a good width to use, F/FF a 57mm width hook and eye will offer good support. The length of the eyes is usually 54mm and the longer eyes (the four rows) like
the black one shown is 74mm.
Hook & Eye requirements:
Choose the correct one for the cup size you are designing. As a guide :
C and below : 2 x 3 30mm
D - FF : 2 x 3 38mm
F and above : 3 x 3 57mm
H and above : 4 x 3 74mm
If you are wanting a delicate hook and eye for small cups then 1x3 19mm will work.
