Van Journal : Client case study - swimwear
I’ve updated the website on Lingerie Design Service page, and I look back at previous clients so you can see what getting a tech pack actually consists of. Obviously due to the privacy I have with working with clients, the brand name has been changed and i’ve redrawn the tech drawings and information in the tech pack. However the basis of the brief is there with the country and factory.
So, Swimwear: The basis of the brief was, they wanted a retro looking swimsuit with long sleeves, a surfery look so I added a zip. To sit with this, they wanted a long sleeve crop swimwear and a high waisted and low waisted brief (not pictured).
We worked together and choose the colours that represented the sea yet also had the clashing colours to get that 70s retro vibe. We worked through different combinations and a lot came from the client, who knew what they wanted but because I could put the colours on CAD, different combinations were sent to look at. As well as the tech pack, I send separate boards of the technical drawing and colour boards, so you have everything.
Once the technical drawing shape had been signed off (making sure it matched the what was in the clients head) I got to work on the tech pack. The tech pack consisted of a summary page, the construction pages (shown), front and back, a close up of the attachment of the zip, colour pages, BOM (bill of materials) (shown), a labels page, a packing page and a spec sheet.
Regarding the BOM page, if you have an idea what you want your garment to made from, brilliant I can work with that, or I can suggest fabrics and trims and then I send you images of each choice so you really understand what I am talking about.
Below is the examples of what you would receive form me if you woeked with me making your idea come to a reality.
Please note when you receive you tech packs they won’t have ‘van jonsson design example only’ on them. I have recently found people taking the tech pack examples I have put online and using them not for themselves but to monetary charge others.
