The Anatomy of the bra

The purpose of writing this book was to give an insight into the bra, so I thought it’s been awhile since this book, the second one I wrote, has been given it’s own blog to state what it’s about.

Broken down into eight chapters this book can be consumed within one sitting, it gets straight to the point on everything covered.

Chapter one- What does a bra do

This looks at the debate whether a bra helps support your breasts or works against it.

Chapter two - Cup styles

From Balconette to Training bra, this chapter looks at those styles and all the ones in-between with shadow shapes so you get a visual of the shape of the bra.

Chapter three - Cup sizes

This looks at how sizing works and sister sizing (where a 34D has the same volume as a 32DD).

Chapter four - Worldwide measurement discrepancies

It covers how cups are named differently (like the USA DDD and the UK E) and the grade difference between different countries.

Chapter five - The anatomy of the bra

A look into each component on the bra

Chapter six - Bra component suppliers

A list of lingerie suppliers of fabrics and notions

Chapter seven - Final thoughts

Questions whether we need to measure the volume of the breast rather than the diameter.

Chapter eight - Designers Q & A

Always one of my favourites parts of the book, I asked thirteen independent designs “ What aspect of designing a bra, do you find most technically challenging?”
