My love of David Bowie came about watching Labyrinth. And it seemed fitting that I should do a nod towards him with lingerie. Forever the icon, and pushing fashion boundaries, I took his iconic picture form the 70's and based my design around that. These briefs are not what you call cutting edge; however it shows by taking one simple pattern you can adapt them and transform them into something of your own.
Using the 'Betty' pattern brief which will be available to buy soon, I drafted out my style lines and cut the fabric accordingly, had I had more time (I was on a deadline and only had an hour spare to cut and make.) I would have edged the fabric with elastic or cut away the fabric from behind to leave the zigzag exposed.
Once cut, I pinned it all into place and using a straight stitch I sewed the zigzag onto the back. Then proceeded to make the briefs using the step-by-step guide that will be available when you buy the pattern.
I once quite pleased how they turned out considering time restraints, and that the machine was happy to whirl through them and not skip stitches (always the bane of my life when I want to complete something really quickly).
I quite like having themed lingerie.
